What a clean trademark search means, and does not
"No live match found" means no registered or pending mark in the registers read shares your name's spelling, sound or office variant. It is the best a register search can say.
What it does not cover
- Unregistered use: in the United States, rights come from use, and an unregistered user may still object.
- US state registers.
- Logos, shapes and stylised marks as images.
- Meaning: a translation or a near-synonym in another language.
- Registers we do not read yet.
Dead marks
Dead marks are listed but not counted. A recently dead mark can be revived or refiled, which is worth knowing before you announce.
The next step
Check the domain, then file in the offices where you will sell. Read dates are on the result: if a register is stale, run the check again once it is current.
